Understanding Trauma from an

Aboriginal Perspective

The Trauma-Informed Care Workshop seeks to define the principles of trauma-informed practice within the broader context of overall well-being, with a specific emphasis on its impact on Aboriginal Peoples.

Trauma-informed practice fundamentally recognises our exposure to life-altering events such as child abuse, neglect, and domestic violence. It underscores our responsibility to respond thoughtfully and effectively to individuals grappling with trauma and its repercussions. The overarching goal is to ensure optimal outcomes for individuals and families accessing these services.

The essence of Trauma-Informed Care lies not in symptom treatment but in offering support services that are accessible and culturally appropriate for those who may have experienced trauma. Through the adoption of trauma-informed approaches, the workshop endeavours to create an environment conducive to understanding and addressing the complex needs of individuals impacted by trauma.
